Interest Promotes Success

Iluka Public School was established at its present site in 1879. The present student enrolment is 130. The school is seeing increased enrolments due to its very effective Kindergarten Transition Program and the quality of education programs it is providing. There are presently only a few students of non-English speaking background in the school community. There are also a small number of Aboriginal and Pacific Island students at the school. The school has been identified as being in a low socio economic area with the school’s Family Occupation and Education Index 121.

The school has completed significant building and ground improvements. New classrooms have been constructed, extensive landscape gardening including fruit trees, vegetable gardens and chicken pen have been undertaken. The staff mix combines experienced teachers with a range of beginning new scheme teachers. There are a number of teachers who have spent in excess of 6 years at the school. The school fosters close links to the broader community.
